Challenges:
-
The transition between beliefs and phenomenological patterns to physical elements.
-
How dynamic elements of the body can improve recognition and drawing our attention to beliefs and cultures.
-
A transformation of figures to ornamental elements.
-
Unique and minimal decoration without expensive materials
-
The simplicity of wall, decoration, and furniture as the small part of complex space -- this space had few materials and low price in the whole complex.
Step One: Concept
Ears are important figures in Persian culture. Having the ear is something but using it in a good manner is a more important thing. Persian poets mention on how to use ears in suitable ways. Like Rumi who mentions in his 2219's Ghazal: "I will speak secret words into your ear: move (your) head meaning, "Yes."(But) except for (that indication) with (your) head, don't say anything." There is another proverb that mentions how much we should care about what we say and where we say it! Like an old Persian belief that "wall has mice and mice has ears." The interpretation of this proverb is even though there is no one around, watch and take care of what you think or you want to say. The whole idea of this design came from these old beliefs.

Step Two: Design
The area that is audible by others is a hallway that can take 25 five people inside it. 25 people mean 25 sets of ears. So 50 ears can hear our words obviously. So I took the idea of numbers of people and their ears on the wall, so people can sense their effect and their words more precisely. Have you ever focus on people's talks? As a listener, people tend to use one of their ears and try to enhance their ability on one specific ear! So I used my ear as a model to make 50 ears. I made a mold from it and then filled them 50 times with plaster.
Step Three: Installing
While I was pouring the liquid plaster, I put a screw inside the mold so, it would be easy to install. But the issue was that the client told me to remove the screw from my works! They only wanted to stick the ears to the wall with some glue! I told them that glue will change their function and you will not be able to reuse the ears! but that was how they wanted it.
